Because of Winn-Dixie is an amazing book that talks about a young girl whose life changes for the better because of a dog she finds at the store named Winn-Dixie. The dog is wild and free, but that is what she loved about him and that is why she had to take him home to keep for herself. Throughout the book Opal (the young girl) and her new dog Winn-Dixie go through a lot if trials and turbine but they never leave each others side. The two are always their for each other!

I think that is what I would teach my classroom about from this book. It is important to make sure classmates, especially young children, know what it means to be a good friend and I think this book is perfect for showing examples of just that!
